I want this room to look as cool and contemporary as the rest of the condo without a lot of money spent. I am willing to replace the countertops if material is free or close to it. I do have a source for a black solid surface material that will be enough for the counters and have been searching The Reuse Center for granite or solid surface. Do you think $10 a square foot for unfinished edges on scraps of granite or $15 for finished edge pieces of scrap is a good price? Any other ideas for the countertop? Any suggestions of paint colors? How about using the black from the dining room? Any suggestions accepted!

I hope you don't like (or recently put up) the wallpaper....that's got to go! Reface the cabinetry by painting...maybe a neutral color depending upon what you do with the wall color. Remember the color we painted the cabinets in my house? Maybe something like that. It would help the stark white appliances blend in a bit. Do you need the chair rail? It makes it boxier instead of flowing.
ReplyDeleteLove the new chairs! Very retro! Can't wait to see the place at Christmas time!!
On the kitchen, I would remove the wallpaper, paint the cabinets white, replace the counters with black (granite, silestone or soapstone) I'm not familiar with pricing differences on those but I have seen stone pieces from the Reuse center that could be cost effective. I would then put in a bottle glass green backsplash to go with the neat stools you found. The black & white are so classic you can go anywhere with it.
