Bathroom: Advice Needed!

Ah, the bathroom. Apparently this was an '80's re-do that a previous owner was very proud of. What did they replace? The tiny black and white octangular tile on the floor and bead board on the walls. Sigh.
The tile has to stay for now. Any suggestions on how to make this a bit more attractive keeping the tile? I am willing to replace the sink vanity, lights and paint. Color suggestions?

  1. Let's see if my post will show. I'd get rid of the dark wood blinds on the window sill...it closes it in to me. Can you paint tile? Especially if you think you'll replace it in the future? Maybe a pretty shower curtain, but not too bold (again, not wanting to close it in). Other than that, I have NO DOUBT you will come up with something and it will look amazing! You are very talented.

  2. I recently worked on a design for my sister in laws master bath so I have some ideas. I would take down the brown shutters and lace curtain and put up a white wood blind. Glass mosaic tiles would give it an updated look so to be cost effective, I would replace just the dated trim tile pieces with the glass. I would check with the tile shop if they could be applied directly to the existing tile, otherwise chip them out with a chisle. A new dark wood color vanity with a Carara(sp?)marble top and a shiny stainless faucet would also give it an updated look. Restoration Hardware has the best selection that I have found. Good luck, whatever you do will look great! Pat S.
